This was my first effort to apply expression to the face to enhance the overall mood of the painting. In traditional fashion illustrations, face expressions are usually limited to avoid drawing too much attention. I found, however, in some cases it not only creates a bigger impact but also completes the style.

The idea behind this painting is to:
1). Exaggerate the impact of the outfit by using bold color strips.
2). Showcase the contrast between the simplicity of the blue stripes and the muddiness of the colors on the pants.
3). Create a strong emotion on the face to compliment the expression of the shirt.
